19-year-old NW DC Man Arrested in Connection with 2008 Homicide

MPD tonight announced in the 2008 homicides of 28-year-old Luis Zelaya.

Nelson Javier Fuentes-Portillo, a 19-year-old Northwest DC man, was arrested Monday on suspicion of first degree murder while armed and murder in the aid of racketeering and aiding and abetting.

Arrest Made in the 2008 Homicide of Luis Zelaya

( Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced that an arrest has been made in the fatal stabbing of 28 year-old Luis Zelaya.

On Thursday, November 6, 2008, at approximately 9:30 pm, units from the Third District responded to the intersection of 11th and Otis Place, NW to investigate a report of a man down. Upon their arrival officers located Mr. Zeyala suffering from multiple stab wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

On Monday, July 11, 2011, at approximately 11:25 am, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 19-year-old Nelson Javier Fuentes-Portillo of Northwest DC, for First Degree Murder While Armed and Murder in the Aid of Racketeering and Aiding and Abetting.
