SE DC Shooting DC Kills Quentin Ragland; Karl Pugh Suspected of Murder 2 in Case


Twenty-seven year-old Quentin Joavor Ragland was killed yesterday afternoon in Southeast D.C., MPD said Wednesday, adding that thirty-year-old Karl Nathaniel Pugh has been arrested in connection with the case.

Ragland was found shot in the 800 block of Southern Avenue SE. He was transported to a local hospital where he died, police said.

Pugh was presented with a charge of second-degree murder today. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 30.

Arrest Made in the Homicide in the 800 Block of Southern Avenue, SE

( Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating the fatal shooting which occurred in the 800 block of Southern Avenue, SE.

On Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at approximately 2:22 pm, units from the Seventh District responded to the 800 block of Southern Avenue, SE for the report of shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered an unconscious and unresponsive adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 27 year-old Quentin Joavor Ragland of Southeast, Washington, DC.

The Metropolitian Police Department’s 7th District Officers apprehended the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Karl Nathaniel Pugh of Southeast DC, in the 800 block of Southern Avenue, SE, and he was charged with Second Degree Murder While Armed.
