Corey Yates Arrested in Shooting Death of Darrel Hendy, MPD Says

Corey Yates was arrested by MPD Friday afternoon at 2:30 in connection with the shooting death of Darrel Hendy, MPD said Friday night.

Yates was arraigned on the first-degree murder while armed charge on Sept. 26. He pleaded innocent and was in custody at D.C. Jail.

Third Arrest Made in Homicide in the 800 block of Southern Avenue SE

( Washington, DC) — Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced a third arrest has been made in the homicide of 29-year-old Darrel Hendy.

On Saturday, September 25, 2010, units from the Seventh District responded to the 800 block of Southern Avenue, SE, to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon their arrival they located the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

On Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at 11:45 am, an 18 year-old suspect was arrested pursuant to a warrant charging him with First Degree Murder while Armed.

On Friday, April 1, 2011, at 7:25 pm, members of DC Protective Services arrested a 36-year-old suspect pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant charging him with First Degree Murder while Armed.

On Friday, September 30, 2011, at 2:30 pm, members of the Homicide Branch arrested 22 year-old Corey Yates of Southeast DC, pursuant to a booking order for a Grand Jury indictment charging him with First Degree Murder while Armed.
