In Brief:

Michael Ezekel Epps of Windsor Mill, Md. was killed by MPD officers Monday night. Police said Epps, 20, was shooting a gun at apartments in the Clay Terrace neighborhood and was believed to be on PCP.

Jekwan Smith was ordered held on suspicion of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Isaiah Sheffield. At a preliminary hearing, an MPD detective said the shooting was part of an ongoing dispute between rivaling neighborhood men.

MPD released a composite sketch of a man they say is responsible for shooting two people at a Northeast DC gas station over the weekend, killing one of them, 24 year-old Stephon Emmanuel Way of Upper Marlboro, Md.

The FBI, MPD, US Attorney’s Office, and Montgomery County Police announced that they have joined forces in a renewed effort to identify a man responsible for a series of violent sexual attacks on DC-area women more than 13 years ago.

Dominique Bassil was indicted on one count of second-degree murder while armed in the stabbing death of Vance Harris on Aug. 13.

Sharrod Peppers pleaded innocent Friday to five counts related to the shooting death of Rodney Bean on Oct. 30, 2010. Peppers is charged with premeditated first-degree murder while armed in the case, along with several weapons charges.

James Sandidge was ordered held on a finding of substantial probability in the shooting death of Keenan Jerel Lee. Sandidge’s attorney said that the shooting was in self defense.

Keith Littlepage pleaded innocent to the stabbing death of his girlfriend, Selina Knight, at her Southeast D.C. apartment.

William McCorkle and Andre Clinkscale were each sentenced to more than 100 years in prison for a triple homicide in Trindad.

Allen Butler was sentenced to 64 and a half years in prison for his role in a fatal home invasion that left Franklin Johnson dead.

Omare Cotton was found guilty of second degree murder in the shooting death of teen Alonte Sutton.

Prosecutors said a witness in the murder case against David and Montez Warren is dead, killed sometime after the two brothers were arrested in the shooting death of Ervin Lamont Griffin.
