At what was scheduled to be an arraignment on the charges Wednesday, Prosecutor Todd Gee said the men are expected to arrive in DC “any day now.”
They are in the custody of the US Marshall Service, Gee said.
Defense Attorney Kevin McCants was present Wednesday to represent Jackson. Gee said no one has contacted the US Attorney’s Office as a representative of Johnson. Regarding Johnson paying for an attorney, Gee said Johnson has “substantial resources.”
Johnson and Jackson were among seven men named in an 80-count indictment that detailed five years of gang violence in Adams Morgan, Columbia Heights and the U Street corridor. Among the crimes charged in the indictment is a murder charge in connection with the shooting death of Jamal Coates.
They are scheduled in court Jan. 20.
