Charges Enhanced in Neil Godleski Murder Case

Less than a month before the case against Eric Foreman is scheduled to go to trial, prosecutors have secured a superseding indictment enhancing two of the most serious charges in the case.

Foreman, 18, is charged in the August 2010 shooting death of Catholic University graduate student Neil Godleski. Godleski was bicycling home from his job as a waiter at a restaurant when Foreman allegedly robbed him for $60 at gunpoint in Sherman Circle. Godleski was shot several times in the course of the robbery.

The superseding indictment adds “aggravating circumstances” to the charges against Foreman. Those circumstances are that the murder was a random shooting and that the murder was committed during a robbery.

Typically, defendants found guilty of “aggravating circumstances” face additional prison time.

A status hearing is set for the case for Friday. The trial is scheduled for Feb. 6.
