Week in Review

In brief:

Yolanda Stone, shot in February, died late Sunday night and her death has been ruled a homicide. MPD is searching for her ex-boyfriend, Reynard Cook, who is a suspect in the case.

Alex Carter, also known as Alex Cater, was presented with a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the death 56-year-old Leroy Studevant. MPD said Carter’s jacket tested positive for Studevant’s blood.

Herbert Hancock Hayes was arrested in connection with the stabbing death of John Wesley Griffin.

Levern Butler, 27, was killed in a shooting in Barry Farm early Tuesday morning.

Stephen Barnes was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the shooting death of Stephon Emmanuel Way, which occurred at a Northeast DC gas station in December. A teenage girl was wounded in that shooting.

Judge Thomas Motley found probable cause that David Bolden, 33, stabbed 34-year-old Lamont Antonio Devore early in the morning of May 1 on Kenilworth Avenue Northeast. A detective testified that Devore called 911 to report the stabbing.

The second-degree murder charge against Jewell Washington in the death of Mark Goldring was dismissed.

Christopher Williams, 20, waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Thursday. He is one of three suspects in the January stabbing death of Kevin Blackwell Jr.

Vincent Gray and Delron Atchison pled innocent to charges connected to the fatal shooting of Demetrius Emmanuel Thompson onboard a Metro bus in October.

Stephanie Lawson pled innocent to a charge of first-degree murder while armed in the stabbing death of Karen Jordan.

Curtis Patterson‘s sentencing was delayed for a second time this month because his attorney has twice been absent. Patterson pled guilty to crimes in connection to the shooting death of Angelo Jones.

He was expecting his first daughter in July, and now that privilege has been taken away from him because someone shot him and left him to die. His family is devastated as no one should ever have to bury a son/brother/uncle/and father this early. Troy was a good man and very free spirited and didn’t deserve to leave the world like this.
