MPD Statement on Petworth Shooting Victim, Antoine Bates

MPD has confirmed that the victim of a Petworth shooting early Saturday morning is 23-year-old Antione Bates.

Friends identified him as the victim early Saturday.

Homicide in the 500 Block of Crittenden Street, NW

(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating the fatal shooting which occurred in the 500 block of Crittenden Street, NW.

On Saturday, June 23, 2012, at approximately 1:51 am, Fourth District officers responded to the 500 block of Crittenden Street, NW to investigate a report of a shooting. Once they arrived on the scene, officers located an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The decedent has been identified as 23-year-old Antione Bates of Northwest, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
