NE DC Shooting Victim Catholic University Grad Student

A man was killed in Northeast DC late Thursday night; NBC Washington reports he was a 31-year-old graduate student at Catholic University.

According to multiple reports, the man was found in the 1000 block of 44th Street NE at about 11:40 p.m. He had been shot in the chest.

Reported NBC Washington:

The victim’s family identified him to News4 as Akinwole Olu Williams, who went by the name Olu. They said Williams often got a ride home from work, but on Thursday night, he was tired and didn’t want to wait for a ride, so he took the Metro.

His mother, sister and brother said at the scene that they don’t know who would try to harm him, reported News4’s Megan McGrath.

Reported Fox5:

A person on the scene claiming to be a family member tells FOX 5 the victim is a local college graduate who was on his way home from work when he was shot and killed.
