SE DC Shooting Victim Identified as Darius Cannon, 16

The victim of a fatal shooting in Southeast DC overnight has been identified as 16-year-old Darius Cannon of Southeast DC.

A press release from MPD states that police were called to the 2700 block of Langston Place, SE at about 12:37 a.m. Sunday for a report of gunshots. They found Cannon at that location injured. The teen was taken to a local hospital where he died.

Cannon is the second person under the age of 18 killed this year. Four-year-old Samauri Jenkins died in a fire in Southeast DC February 19.

Homicide: 2700 Block of Langston Place, SE

(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting which occurred in the 2700 block of Langston Place, Southeast.

On Sunday, April 7, 2013 at approximately 12:37 am, units from the Seventh District responded to the 2700 block of Langston Place, SE, for the report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they located a juvenile male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Personnel from DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The decedent is identified as 16-year-old Darius Cannon of Southeast, Washington, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
