Suspect in Custody After Fatal Southeast Shooting

A shooting Friday morning left 36-year-old Mikey Ledbetter dead.

Police found Ledbetter, of Southeast D.C., suffering from an apparent gunshot wound around 5:29 a.m. He died at a local hospital.

Melvin Quick, 27 and also from Southeast, was arrested at 1:40 p.m. on suspicion of first-degree murder.

Arrest Made in Homicide: 18th and Q Street, SE

(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced an arrest has been made in a fatal shooting which occurred at 18th and Q Street, SE.

On Friday, August 2, 2013, at approximately 5:29 am, Sixth District officers received a radio assignment for a shooting at 18th and Q Street, SE. Upon their arrival, the officers discovered a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The decedent is identified as 36-year-old Mikey Ledbetter of Southeast, Washington, DC.

On August 2, 2013 at approximately 1:40 pm, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 27-year-old Melvin Quick of Southeast, DC and charged him with First Degree Murder while Armed for the shooting death of Mikey Ledbetter.
