Week Ahead

Each week, Homicide Watch brings you a list of upcoming hearings in the cases we follow. All hearings are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. unless otherwise noted. To add an item to the listing, email homicidewatchdc [at] gmail.com. To see scheduled court hearings beyond next week, see our calendar.

Monday, Chavez Myers, Greg Whitaker and Isaiah Gant are expected to begin trial before Judge Ronna Beck. The men are charged in connection with the November 2012 stabbing death of 18-year-old Olijawon Emmanuel Griffin.

Keir Johnson and Lester Williams are scheduled to begin trial before Judge Lynn Leibovitz. The four co-defendant case includes co-defendants Robert Givens and Marcellus Jackson, who are alleged members of a street gang called “G-Rod.” Johnson and Williams are charged with first-degree murder in connection with the September 2011 shooting death of 21-year-old Jamal Coates.

Mark Anthony Coates is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Herbert Dixon. Coates, one of two co-defendants, pleaded guilty in July to second-degree murder in the December 2011 death of 56-year-old Leroy Studevant.

Tuesday,
Earl Johnson is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Russell Canan. Johnson pleaded guilty in April to voluntary manslaughter in the August 2012 stabbing death of 29-year-old Antoinette Mitchell.

Friday, Andrew Williams is scheduled for a status hearing with Judge Beck. Williams is charged with first-degree murder while armed in the May 2011 shooting death of 30-year-old Junon Tyree Snead.

Arvel Wills is scheduled for a status hearing with Judge Beck. Wills is charged with voluntary manslaughter in the June 2012 death of his 25-year-old cousin, Dewayne Wills.

Calvin Shaw is scheduled for a status hearing with Judge Robert Morin at 10:30 a.m. Shaw is charged with first-degree murder while armed in the July 2012 shooting death of 19-year-old Crevontai Key.

Davon Thomas is scheduled for a status hearing with Judge Canan at 10:00 a.m. Thomas is charged with the second-degree murder in the January death of his 53-year-oldgrandfather, Emanuel Campbell.

Ercell Overton is scheduled for a preliminary hearing with Judge Canan at 10:00 a.m. Overton is charged with second-degree murder while armed in the June 2013 shooting death of 59-year-old D.C. taxi driver Solomon James Okoroh.

Lamonte Hill is scheduled for a status hearing with Judge John Ramsey Johnson. Hill is charged with second-degree murder while armed in connection with the June 2012 stabbing and shooting death of 26-year-old Brian Dewayne Bloomfield.

Marlon Williams is shceduled to be sentenced by Judge Canan at 11:00 a.m. Williams was found guilty of first-degree felony murder while armed in the September 2010 shooting death of 37-year-old Minn Soo Kang.

Marquette Tibbs and Byron Dunn are scheduled for a status hearing with Judge Beck at 10:30 a.m. Tibbs and Dunn are both charged with first-degree murder in the November 2012 shooting death of 22-year-old Andre jackson.

Mauda’Rico Proctor is scheduled for a felony status conference with Judge Morin at 10:00 a.m. Proctor is charged with first-degree murder while armed in the January shooting death of 27-year-old Dominic Anthony Davis.

Peter Hendy is scheduled for a preliminary hearing with Judge Beck. Hendy is charged with first-degree murder in the August beating death of 4-year old Kamari Zavon Taylor.

Wesley Monroe is scheduled for a bond review hearing with Judge Beck at 11:15 a.m. Monroe, one of two codefendants, is charged with felony murder while armed in the June shooting death of 28-year-old Quentin Lavar White.
