Week Ahead

Monday:

A preliminary hearing is scheduled Monday at 10:00 a.m. for Dion Redwood, 39 in the murder of 16-year-old Darius Cannon, who was killed in a Southeast DC shooting on April 7, 2013. Redwood is charged with first degree murder.

A jury trial is scheduled to begin Monday, for Justin Wilson, 20 in connection with the murder of Freddy Bernard Hawkins, 28.  The incident happened at a Valero gas station on the unit block of Florida Avenue on October 26, 2013. Two people shot and Hawkins died from a gunshot wound to the neck. Wilson is charged with second-degree murder.

Friday:

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Andre Burks, 26 in connection to the shooting death of Antwan Boseman, 23 on August 4, 2012 at the 800 block of Barnaby St, SE. Burks is charged with second degree murder.

A status hearing is scheduled for DaQuan Tinker, 16 charged with first degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Terrence Robinson, 48, on Aug. 5, 2012.

A mental health hearing is scheduled for Gary Montgomery, 55, charged with first degree murder in the death of Deoni Jones, 23. Montgomery allegedly stabbed Jones on February 2, 2012 around 8:15 p.m. at a bus stop in the 4900 block of East Capitol Street Northeast. Montgomery was previously found incompetent to stand trial on Dec. 2, 2013

A status hearing is scheduled for Howard Bruce Randolph, 25, in connection with the murder of Rayshawn Hailstock, 21, on June 30, 2013. Hailstock was found unconscious in the 2300 block of Alabama Avenue Southeast around 8:30 p.m suffering from blunt force injuries to the head and neck.

A trial readiness hearing is scheduled  at 11:30 for Jashua Johnson, 19, in connection with the shooting death of Davon Brown, 22, on July 8, 2012. Johnson is charged with first-degree murder and several assault and weapons offenses. Police found Brown gunned down on a sidewalk in the 1700 block of Galen Street Southeast on July 8, 2012. Charging documents in the case do not make it clear whether Brown was the target of the shooting.

A status hearing for Joshua Mebane, 17, is scheduled in connection with the shooting death of 44-year-old taxi driver Quadar Muhammad on November 7, 2012. Mabane is charged with  first-degree murder while armed, premeditated murder and eight counts of robbery and weapons related offenses.

A felony status conference is scheduled for Mauda’Rico Proctor, 22, in connection with the shooting death of Dominic Anthony Davis, 27. Davis was found shot multiple times in the 500 block of 57th Street Northeast on January 14, 2013.

A full report and sentencing is scheduled for Michael Poth, 22. Poth, a former Marine, was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter while armed in connection with the April 2012, stabbing death Philip Bushong, 23, a fellow Marine.

Sentencing is scheduled Friday at 10:30 for Peter Hendy, 33, who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in connection with the death of 4-year-old Kamari Zavon Taylor, who died of blunt force trauma.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tisheena Brown, 33, charged with first degree murder and first degree cruelty to children in connection to the death of her one month-old son Hakeem Brown. Brown said she gave her son, a portion of her prescribed medication Promethazine, before finding him unconscious early in the morning of Sept. 18, 2013.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday at 11:30 in the case of Woodrow Johnson, 52. Johnson is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Shamika Smith, 24 who was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing Benning Road in Southeast DC on November 8, 2013.
