Stefon Kirkpatrick Pleads Innocent to Stabbing Julisa Brittney Washington

In July 2013, Stefon Kirkpatrick, turned himself in after police found his pregnant girlfriend Julisa Brittney Washington stabbed to death in an alley.

Kirkpatrick was indicted Wednesday on a charge of first-degree premeditated murder while armed and pleaded innocent to the charge before Judge Rhonda Winston.

On July 29, 2013, at around 10:22 A.M., police found Washington in an alley on the 400 block of Brandywine Street Southeast suffering from an apparent stab wound. Medical services arrived and declared Washington dead on scene.

A witness who identified Washington as her daughter later told police 22-year-old Washington and 23-year-old Kirkpatrick had been in a romantic relationship for five years and Washington was approximately four months pregnant with Kirkpatrick’s child the day she was stabbed.

According to charging documents, when police arrived at the scene Kirkpatrick said to them, “I want to turn myself in. I did it. No more suffering, no more pain. All I want is one to the head.”

During a preliminary hearing Metropolitan Police Detective Brian Bradol said that Kirkpatrick and Washington were seen arguing moments before the murder.

During the initial investigation, the witness who identified Washington as her daughter approached police and then pointed to Kirkpatrick and told police, “That’s him,” court documents state.

According to charging documents, Kirkpatrick then approached police with his hands in the air holding a cell phone and a backpack and was arrested.

Kirkpatrick is scheduled for a status hearing on June 6 at 9:30 a.m. before Judge Rhonda Winston.

Judge Ronna Beck found probable cause Friday in the case against Stefon Kirkpatrick. Prosecutors have charged Kirkpatrick with stabbing and killing his 22-year-old girlfriend, Julisa Brittney Washington. Kirkpatrick is held pending a grand jury investigation.

Police found Washington on July 29 around 10:22 a.m. in an alley on the 400 block of Brandywine Street Southeast suffering from an apparent stab wound. Medical services arrived and declared Washington dead on scene. Kirkpatrick, 23, was arrested at the scene of the crime and charged with second-degree murder while armed for Washington's death.

At a preliminary Friday, Metropolitan Police Detective Brian Bradol said that Kirkpatrick and Washington were seen arguing moments before the murder.

"[Kirkpatrick] was seen pushing the decedent," Bardol said. "A witness said they were in an argument and that he pulled her like she was a man."

Charging documents state that a witness told police they saw Washington and Kirkpatrick walking together near the crime scene hours before the stabbing. The witness said that Washington attempted to walk away several times, but Kirkpatrick would pull her back by her arm. The witness told police they last saw them in a verbal argument near the alley where Washington was found dead, documents state.

Another witness at the crime scene approached police and identified Washington as her daughter. The witness then pointed to Kirkpatrick who was nearby and told police, “That’s him," court documents state.

According to charging documents, Kirkpatrick then approached police with his hands in the air holding a cell phone and a backpack and said, “I want to turn myself in. I did it. No more suffering, no more pain. All I want is one to the head."

Documents state the witness told police that Kirkpatrick and Washington were involved in a romantic relationship for about five years. The witness said that Washington was approximately four months pregnant with Kirkpatrick's child the day she was stabbed.

Police said Kirkpatrick acted "violent and irate," and expressed suicidal thoughts to detectives while in custody, court documents state.

The case is scheduled for a status hearing on January 10, 2014.

Stefon Kirkpatrick Held in Connection with Death of Julisa Washington

Judge Lori Parker found substantial probability Tuesday that Stefon Kirkpatrick stabbed and killed 22-year-old Julisa Brittney Washington. Kirkpatrick remains held pending a preliminary hearing scheduled August 30.

Washington was found lying in an alley in the 400 block of Brandywine Street Southeast around 10:20 a.m. Monday. She had suffered a stab wound to the neck, which perforated her jugular, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Arrest documents say that while police were securing the area, a witness approached police, identified the victim as her daughter, and then pointed out Kirkpatrick and said, "That's him."

Documents say Kirkpatrick, 23, then approached police with his hands in the air holding a cell phone and a backpack and said, "I want to turn myself in. I did it. No more suffering, no more pain. All I want is one to the head."

Police then arrested Kirkpatrick on a charge of second-degree murder while armed.

Court documents say the woman told police that Kirkpatrick and her daughter had been involved in a romantic relationship for about five years, and that her daughter was approximately four months pregnant with his child.

A woman found fatally stabbed in Southeast mid-morning Monday has been identified as 22-year-old Julisa Brittney Washington.

Police have arrested 23-year-old Stefon Kirkpatrick on suspicion of second-degree murder while armed in connection with Washington's death.

Homicide Arrest: 400 Block of Chesapeake Street, Southeast

(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced an arrest has been made in the homicide which occurred in the 400 block of Chesapeake Street, Southeast.

On Monday, July 29, 2013, at approximately 10:22 am, members from the Seventh District responded to the 400 block of Chesapeake Street, Southeast for a report of a woman down. Upon arrival, they located an unconscious adult female, suffering from an apparent stab wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services did not find signs consistent with life. The decedent was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner pending autopsy.

The decedent is identified as 22 year-old Julisa Brittney Washington of Southeast, Washington, DC.

Police arrested 23 year-old Stefon Kirkpatrick of Southwest, Washington, DC, on the scene and charged with Murder II While Armed in the stabbing death of Julisa Brittney Washington.
