Aaron Henderson's April Death Ruled Homicide

The death of a man found unconscious and unresponsive in Northeast DC in April has been ruled a homicide, MPD said in a press release Saturday evening.

The victim, Aaron Henderson, was 36 years old when he was found in a Trinidad-area alley.

MPD's Fifth District Commander Andy Solberg shared the news in a listserv message where he said Henderson was a victim of homicide. MPD released a homicide reward poster in the case, but later said that Henderson's death had not been classified as a homicide.

According to MPD's statement Saturday, Henderson's autopsy concluded that he died of blunt force trauma to the head and that his death was, in fact, a homicide.

Homicide: 1500 Block of Oates Street, NE

(Washington, DC)- Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred in the 1500 block of Oates Street, NE.

On Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at approximately 11:50 pm units from the Fifth District responded for the report of a man down. Upon arrival, they located an adult male unconscious and unresponsive from an apparent head injury. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 36-year-old Aaron Timothy Henderson of Northeast, Washington, DC. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner performed an autopsy, which ruled the death a homicide by blunt force trauma to the head.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

Police Commander Says NE DC Death Has Not Been Classified As Homicide

Fifth District Commander Andy Solberg says that Aaron Henderson's death has not been classified as a homicide, but MPD this afternoon released a reward poster saying that it was.

Solberg's message, sent to the 5D listerve at about 3:30 p.m. reads:

The death of the man last night in the alley in the 1000 block of 16th St NE has NOT been determined to be a homicide at this time.

Detectives are still investigating the death of the man and we will provide updates as we learn more.

MPD tweeted at about noon that the man was identified as Henderson and was a homicide victim.

(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a death which occurred in the 1000 block of 16th Street, NE.

On Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at approximately 11:50 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to the 1000 block of 16th Street, NE for the report of a man down. Upon arrival, they located an adult male, unconscious and unresponsive suffering from apparent trauma to the head. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel transported the person to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 36 year-old Aaron Timothy Henderson of Northeast, Washington, DC.

The manner of death has not been determined and is pending a ruling by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The investigation is ongoing.

Man Found Beaten in NE DC Wednesday Identified as Aaron Timothy Henderson

A man found beaten late Wednesday night in an alley in Northeast DC has been identified as 36-year-old Aaron Timothy Henderson, also known as Peanut.

MPD issued a reward poster in the case just before noon Thursday.

Henderson has severe head trauma when he was found, the poster states. He died after being taken to a hospital.

36-Year-Old Man Killed in NE DC Late Wednesday Night

A 36-year-old man died after being found by police in Northeast DC late Wednesday night suffering from trauma.

Fifth District Commander Andy Solberg shared on the 5D listserv:

Wednesday night just before midnight, Fifth District officers were called to the 1000 block of 16th St., NE, for a man unconscious in the alley. When they arrived they found a 36 year old who had was suffering trauma to the body.

The man was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. This case is being investigated as a homicide by the MPD.
