Carmen Payne | Homicide Watch DChttp://homicidewatch.org/victims/carmen-payne/Latest news about Carmen Payneen-usSat, 12 Apr 2014 16:42:39 -0400Woman's October Death in Northeast DC Declared Homicide by Strangulationhttp://homicidewatch.org/2014/04/12/womans-october-death-in-northeast-dc-declared-homicide-by-strangulation/<p><iframe src="http://homicidewatch.org/api/v1/homicides/364.html" width="100%" height="350" frameborder=0></iframe></p> <p>The death of a woman found unconscious and unresponsive in Northeast DC last October has been ruled a homicide.</p> <p>On Saturday MPD said the woman, identified as 53-year-old <a href="http://homicidewatch.org/victims/carmen-payne/">Carmen Payne</a>, died of asphyxiation due to strangulation.</p> <p>A press release from MPD is after the jump.<br /> <span id="more-22277"></span></p> <blockquote><p>April 12, 2014</p> <p>Homicide: 1200 Block of Meigs Place, Northeast</p> <p>(Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide which occurred in the 1200 block of Meigs Place, Northeast.</p> <p>On Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at approximately 5:18 pm, officers from the Fifth District responded to the 1200 block of Meigs Place, NE, for a check on the welfare call. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult female who was unconscious and unresponsive. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and determined there were no signs consistent with life. The decedent was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where the she was pronounced dead.</p> <p>The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled the cause of death as Asphyxiation due to Strangulation. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.</p> <p>The decedent has been identified as 53-year-old Carmen Payne of Northeast, DC.</p> <p>The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099.
