WJLA: Christopher Ballard, Killed Saturday, Was Due to Testify in Carjacking Case

WJLA reports that Christopher Ballard, killed Saturday, was due to testify in a carjacking case at DC Superior Court on Monday.

According to court records, Ballard and another man were carjacked at gunpoint last December in the same neighborhood.
Records show two men walked up and said “Get out of the car, but Ballard and the passenger refused."

Detectives said as Ballard pulled away, one of the carjackers fired multiple shots at the car striking at least three times.

SE Shooting Victim IDed as Christopher Ballard

A man killed early Saturday morning has been identified as Christopher Ballard, 38, of Southeast D.C.

Police found Ballard at the intersection of 53rd and E Streets Southeast at 2:14 a.m. after responding to the sound of gunfire. He was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced dead on the scene.

Homicide: 53rd and E Street, SE

(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting which occurred at the intersection of 53rd and E Street, SE.

On Saturday, July 6, 2013, at approximately 2:14 am, a Sixth District uniformed patrol officer heard the sound of gunshots at the intersection of 53rd and E Street, SE. Upon arrival, the patrol officer discovered an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and did not find any signs consistent with life. The decedent remained on the scene and was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia, pending an autopsy.

The decedent is identified as 38-year-old Christopher Ballard of Southeast, Washington, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Man Killed in Early Morning Shooting in SE DC

A shooting in Southeast DC early Saturday morning has left one man dead, NBC Washington reports.

According to a DC Alert, the shooting was reported at 2:14 a.m. in the 53OO block of E Street SE.

No lookout was given and other details weren't immediately available.
