Upon their arrival, officers canvassed the area and located the victim in the alley of the 4500 block of 8th Street, NW, suffering from gunshot wounds and found him to be unconscious and unresponsive. Personnel from DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined the victim had no signs consistent with life. The victim was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner pending an autopsy.</p> <p>The decedent has been identified as 20 year old Derrick Rawls of Northwest, DC.<br /> <span id="more-2024"></span><br /> Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099 or 1-888-919-CRIME (1-888-919-2746).</p> <p>The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. </p></blockquote> <h4 class"headline"=""><a href="http://p2.to/17wW">Petworth homicide victim identified</a></h4> <p><span class="source">voices.washingtonpost.com</span> | <span class="pubdate">Feb 5, 2011</span></p> <blockquote><p> Rawls was found in an alley behind the 4500 block of 8th Street NW about 9:20 p.m. Police had responded to reports of gunshots and found Rawls unconscious from apparent gunshot wounds.
