Washington's Other Monuments, which documents street shrines, has photos in memory of three of DC's recent homicide victims: Selina Brown, Jeffrey Tyson, and Jason Emma.

Video Shows "Persons of Interest" in Jason Emma's Death

Police are asking for the public's help identifying two men seen in the video above. MPD says they are "persons of interest" in the Christmas Eve shooting death of Jason Anthony Emma near Capitol Hill.

Emma was found seated in his car, suffering from gunshot wounds, in the 1200 block of C Street Northeast at 2:15 a.m. on Dec. 24. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Persons of Interest Sought in Homicide in the 1200 Block of C Street, NE

(Washington, DC) - The Metropolitan Police Department seeks the public's assistance in identifying persons of interest in relation to the homicide of Jason Anthony Emma, which occurred on Monday, December 24, 2012 at approximately 2:15 am in the 1200 block of C Street, NE. On Monday, December 24, 2012, at approximately 2:15 am, units from the First District responded to the 1300 block of C Street, NE for the report of sounds of gunshots, and a male slumped over the steering wheel inside a vehicle. Upon their arrival, First District officers located an adult male seated in a vehicle in the 1200 block of C Street, NE, suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined that the victim had no signs consistent with life. He was later pronounced dead by a member of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The decedent is identified as 28-year-old Jason Anthony Emma of Northeast, Washington, DC.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

WJLA reports that a man killed early Saturday morning in Capitol Hill had just moved into the neighborhood that day.

Jason Anthony Emma was found slumped against the steering wheel of his car, about two blocks from his new home, at about 2:15 Monday morning. Neighbors said they didn't hear gunshots, but a rapid succesion of noises, WJLA reports.

Reports WJLA:

"I didn't think at the time that it was gunfire. It was just oddly loud; it was a series of noises closely spaced, so it was probably a rapid fire machine gun," resident Chris Pala said.

Police are looking for at least two armed suspects—preliminary investigations show the motive may be robbery.

The Washington Post reports that police are looking for "two men between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall — one with a heavy build and wearing a white T-shirt with dark sleeves."

Fatal Shooting Near Capitol Hill

An overnight shooting killed a man near Capitol Hill, in the 1200 block of C Street Northeast, MPD Commander Daniel Hickson said on a neighborhood email list.

Police have identified the man as 28-year-old Jason Anthony Emma of Northeast Washington, D.C.

WJLA reports Emma was shot in the abdomen, "lying next to his car--the engine was still running and the headlights were still on." Other reports say he was inside the vehicle.
