In a press release MPD said Dawkins was shot in the 300 block of Ridge Road, SE at about 2:30 a.m. on July 17. He succumbed to his injuries on March 14.</p> <p>A press release from MPD is after the jump.<br /> <span id="more-9145"></span></p> <blockquote><p>May 15, 2012</p> <p>Homicide: 300 Block of Ridge Road, Southeast</p> <p>(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting which occurred in the 300 block of Ridge Road, SE.</p> <p>On Sunday, July 17, 2011, at approximately 2:31 am, units from the Sixth District responded to the 300 block of Ridge Road, SE for the report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel transported the victim to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition. He was paralyzed as a result of the shooting. He was subsequently transferred to a rehabilitation center in Maryland, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on Wednesday, March 14, 2012.</p> <p>The decedent’s remains were transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy. On Monday, May 14, 2012 the case was ruled a homicide by gunshot.</p> <p>The decedent has been identified as 43 year-old Pernell Lonnie Dawkins of Southeast, Washington, DC.</p> <p>The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.<br /> Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099.
