Columbia Heights Shooting Victim IDed as 21-year-old Terrence Desean Smith

A man shot and killed Monday night in Columbia Heights has been identified by police as 21-year-old Terrence Desean Smith.

Smith was found fatally shot in the rear of the 700 block of Columbia Road Northwest. Officers from the Third District responded to the address to investigate the sound of gunshots. Smith had been shot multiple times, MPD officials said.

(Washington, DC) —Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred in the 700 block of Columbia Rd., NW

On Monday, April 18, 2011, at approximately 10:50 pm, members of the Third District were dispatched to the 700 block of Columbia Rd., NW, to investigate the sounds of gunshots.

Upon their arrival, they located a male victim, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the body in the alley rear of the 700 block of Columbia Road, NW. A preliminary examination revealed that the victim was unconscious and unresponsive.

Personnel from DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined the victim had no signs of life. The victim was later pronounced dead by a member of the Office of Chief Medical Examiner.

The decedent has been identified as 21-year-old Terrence Desean Smith of Washington, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

If the information provided by the caller to the Crime Solvers Unit leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.

A man was shot and killed Monday night at about 10:45 in Columbia Heights, the Washington Post reports this morning.

The man's identity was not available.

MPD Commander Jacob Kishter informed the Third District via a listserve message that there had been a shooting last night.

An Alert DC message warned residents to lookout for two black males wearing army jackets and blue jeans in connection with the shooting.

The shooting was less than a mile from where Kevin Andre Washington's body was found on April 10.

Kishter asked anyone with information about the shooting to contact police at 2027279099 or 888919CRIME or to text 50411.
