A double shooting in Northeast DC early Saturday morning left one man dead, WJLA reports.
A message from fifth district commander Andy Solberg this afternoon stated that the victim was 18 years old.
Wrote Commander Solberg:
Last night (this morning) about 12:37 am, two men were shot in front of a convenience store in the 1200 block of Mt. Olivet St. NE, near the intersection of West Virginia Avenue.
One of the victims, an 18 year old, died of his wounds. The second victim survived.
The man was found dead near the intersection of Simms Place and Trinidad Avenue NE, the WJLA report said. A second person was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, a non-life threatening injury, the report said.
The Washington Post reported that the shooting took place in a convenience store about a block away from where WJLA reported the man was found dead.

Police said said a man in the store opened fire shortly after 12:30 a.m. and wounded two people, one fatally. The other victim was shot in the arm, and was being treated at a local hospital, police said.
