Submissions and Comments Policy

We encourage readers to participate in all aspects of this site, including commenting and news gathering. Comments that contribute to the understanding of a crime, including biographical information about victims and suspects are particularly welcome. Information that could help solve a case is also encouraged, as are reports, commentaries and tips on court appearances, memorials, and other events related to the murder. Guest posts on how a murder or murders are impacting specific neighborhoods, schools, and more are welcome.

All comments are moderated and must by approved by an editor. HWDC will make every effort to review comments in a timely manner and post them as quickly as possible.

Any comment or contribution that constitutes a threat or is vulgar or obscene will not be approved. Commentors are encouraged to engage in discussions, but personal attacks on others and their opinions will not be approved. Comments and contributions will not be edited.

You are encouraged to comment using your name. Comments by users providing their full name could be approved more quickly than those that do not.

We use the Disqus comments forum. You are encouraged to comment using your name or to log in through your Facebook or Twitter account. Comments by users providing their full name or who are logged in could be approved more quickly than those that do not.

Your name, email and IP address, and other information may be stored with your comment. We will not sell, trade or generally share this information with any third party. While we will make every reasonable effort to keep this information private, we may be compelled to disclose it by a court of law in order to prevent or investigate a possible crime, such as fraud or identity theft, to enforce the terms of use or other agreements that govern your use of the website, to protect the rights, property or safety of us, our users or others, or to protect your vital interests.
