Morton Street NW Shooting Victim Identified as Julius Barnett Ellington, 35

A man killed in a shooting on Morton Street Northwest early Thursday morning has been identified as 35-year-old Julius Barnett Ellington of Northwest DC.

Homicide in the 600 Block of Morton Street, NW

(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating the fatal shooting which occurred in the 600 block of Morton Street, NW.

On Thursday, July 5, 2012, at approximately 2:20 am members of the Third District responded to the rear of the 600 block of Morton Street, NW for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. A second victim, an adult male, suffering from a gunshot wound was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

The decedent has been identified as 35-year-old Julius Barnett Ellington of Northwest, Washington, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
