Joseph Peoples Held on Substantial Probability in Death of Michael Jones

Joseph Peoples was ordered held yesterday after Judge Ronna Beck found substantial probability that he took part in the fatal shooting of 30-year-old Michael Edward Jones this month.

Beck’s ruling was the second finding of substantial probability in the case: Magistrate Judge Karen Howze found substantial probability at People’s first court appearance on the charge on July 12.

According to charging documents in the case, Peoples was identified, in part, from video surveillance of the street where the shooting occurred.

That video also shows Jones returning fire. Bullets from two types of guns were found on the scene.

Peoples is next due in court Aug. 31 for a status conference.
