First Homicide Victim of 2013 Identified as Raasheem Jamal Rich

MPD has identified a man fatally stabbed Thursday afternoon in Southeast DC as 40-year-old Raasheem Jamal Rich of Northeast, Washington, DC.

Rich was found suffering from stab wounds in the 2800 block of Alabama Ave. SE at about 3:30 p.m.

DC police said Thursday that they were looking for two black men about 25 to 30 years old, wearing skullcaps, grey jackets, tan pants, and reflective vests.

Homicide: 2800 Block of Alabama Avenue, SE

(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal stabbing which occurred in the 2800 block of Alabama Avenue., Southeast.

On Thursday, January 10, 2013, at approximately 3:27 pm, an off duty Metropolitan Police officer was flagged down for a stabbing in the 2800 block of Alabama Avenue., SE. Upon the arrival the off duty officer and additional units from the Sixth District, they located an adult male suffering from apparent stab wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The decedent is identified as 40-year-old Raasheem Jamal Rich of Northeast, Washington, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
