Week Ahead

Each week, Homicide Watch brings you a list of upcoming hearings in the cases we follow. All hearings are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. unless otherwise noted. To add an item to the listing, email homicidewatch [at] gmail.com. To see scheduled court hearings beyond next week, see our calendar.

On Tuesday, a jury trial for Michael Poth is expected to begin with Judge Russell Canan. Poth is charged with murder in connection with the April 21, 2012 stabbing death of 23-year-old Philip Bushong.

Judge Dixon is expecting Joseph Chandler for a status hearing. Chandler is held on a second-degree murder while armed charge for the Dec. 6, 2012 shooting death of 63-year-old Shirley Tucker.

Opening arguments are expected in Keir Johnson‘s and Lester Williams‘ trial with Judge Lynn Leibovitz. The trial is scheduled for 10 a.m. Johnson and Williams are suspected in the Sept. 28, 2010 death of Jamal R. Coates.

Wednesday, Rasdavid Lagarde is expected for a preliminary hearing with Judge Lynn Leibovitz. Lagarde is held on suspicion of first-degree murder in connection with the July 4 shooting death of 22-year-old Omar Sykes.

A trial for James Brewer and Stephen Page is expected to begin. Brewer and Page are both suspected of first-degree murder in the June 27, 2011 shooting death of 71-year-old Solomon Reese. Judge Herbert Dixon will preside over these trials.

Thursday, Judge Dixon is expecting two cases: Justine Wilson is expected for a preliminary hearing. Wilson is suspected of second-degree murder while armed in connection with the Oct. 26 shooting death of 28-year-old Freddy Hawkins.

Burnis Cole is expected for a status hearing. Cole is charged with first-degree murder while armed and a related weapons offense in connection with the Jan. 11 stabbing death of 40-year-old Raasheem Rich.

Friday, Judge John Johnson is expecting three cases: Anthony Campbell is expected for a status hearing. Campbell is charged with first-degree murder while armed in connection with the Aug. 31, 2011 shooting death of 34-year-old Antwain Henderson.

Jermaine Livingston is expected for a felony status conference. Livingston is held on a charge of second-degree murder while armed in connection with Henderson’s death.

Phillip Glover is expected for a status hearing. Glover is charged with conspiracy to obstruct justice in connection with Henderson’s death.

Judge Ronna Beck is expecting two cases: Chavez Myers, one of nine suspects charged with the Nov. 17, 2012 stabbing death of 17-year-old Olijawon Griffin, is expected for a status hearing. Earlier this month, he sought to withdraw his guilty plea in connection with Griffin’s death.

Dwayne Hilton is expected for a felony status conference. Hilton is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the Nov. 26, 2011 shooting death of 18-year-old Mico Briscoe.

Judge Dixon is expecting Cedric Spicer for a status hearing. Spicer is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the Feb. 23 shooting death of 30-year-old Joseph Hardin.

Daren Vaughn is expected for a status hearing with Judge John Johnson at 11:30. Vaughn is suspected in the Sept. 27, 2012, death of Tyrell Avery Swann.
