This news release just came through from Fourth District Metro PD regarding Friday afternoon’s triple shooting in Northwest D.C. The release identifies the deceased victim as 13-year-old Angel Morse. Robert Carter, a 39-year-old Northwest D.C. resident, is in custody for the shooting. He was arrested in Prince George’s County after fleeing the scene in a carjacked Metro Access vehicle. According to the release, he is currently being held in PG County “as a fugitive from justice.”

HOMICIDE CLOSURE IN THE FATAL SHOOTING OF ANGEL MORSE
( Washington , DC )-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced an arrest in the fatal shooting of which occurred in the 500 block of Madison Street, NW .
On Friday, October 29, 2010, at approximately 3:45 pm units from the Fourth District responded to the 500 block of Madison Street, NW for the report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they located three victims suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and transported two victims to area hospitals with non life threatening injuries. One victim was found to have no signs consistent with life and was pronounced dead on the scene by personnel from the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office.
The decedent is identified as 13-year-old Angel Morse of Northwest, Washington , DC .
At approximately 5:50 pm, an off duty United States Park Police officer, after hearing the lookout broadcasted on WTOP Radio, spotted the vehicle the suspect was driving and was able to provide the direction of travel to on duty officers. Sixth District officers responded and attempted to stop the fleeing vehicle on Kenilworth Avenue . The suspect refused to stop and continued fleeing into Maryland where he lost control of the vehicle and collided with a building near the intersection of Kenilworth Avenue and Eastern Ave. The suspect, 39-year-old Robert Carter of Northwest, Washington , DC is currently being held in Prince George ’s County as a fugitive from justice.

With cooperation from the community, the media, other local law enforcement agencies, and an alert off duty police officer, we were able to bring this case to a swift end without further loss of life.” said Chief Lanier.”
