Metro Police have identified the man killed in Petworth this afternoon as 16 year-old Prince Okorie of Northwest D.C. The Washington Post reported earlier today that the victim was shot in the head. An earlier release from Metro PD said officers received a call for a shooting at 8th Street and Delafield Place in Northwest D.C. When they arrived on scene they found the victim “suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.” The victim, now identified as Okorie, was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead. The shooting was reported at about 4:30 p.m.

(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting which occurred in the 800 block of Delafield Street, NW.
On Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at approximately 4:20 pm, units from the Fourth District responded to the 800 block of Delafield Street, NW to investigate the sounds of gunshots. Upon their arrival they located a victim suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel transported the victim to a local area hospital where the victim was pronounced dead.
The decedent is identified as 16 year-old Prince Okorie of Northwest, Washington, DC.
