A 25-year-old Bladensburg, Md. man was found shot in Southeast DC in the 2900 block of Southern Avenue Sunday night. The victim, James Campbell, was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Charging documents for 20-year-old Raymond Roseboro, accuse the Northwest D.C. man of second degree murder for the shooting death of teen Prince Okorie in Petworth on Nov. 30. A witness quoted in the complaint against Roseboro told police it saw Roseboro armed with a gun and Okorie “on the ground. As [the witness] turned away, it heard additional gunshots.” Roseboro is due in court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing.
The family of Neil Godleski, a slain Catholic University grad student, told The Hour of Norwalk, Conn. that Okorie was a witness in the case against Eric Foreman who is charged in Godleski’s death. Neil Godleski’s mother said she had been assured by D.C. police that the case against Foreman is “still very strong” without Okorie.
Metro Police on Thursday identified 18-year-old Antonio Wade of Northeast D.C. as the victim in last Saturday’s shooting in Anacostia. Four others were hurt in that incident. According to his Facebook profile, Wade was a 2009 graduate of H.D. Woodson High School.
Probable cause to try defendants Carl Purvis and Timothy Foreman for the death of Gregory Joyner was found in a preliminary hearing Monday. Judge Ann Keary also ruled that the two disabled men are to remain in custody, despite their attorney’s requests that they be released in some way for medical treatment. Keary asked the men’s attorneys to work with jail staff to facilitate their treatment while in custody.
A funeral was held for stabbing victim Tawanna Barnes-Copeland, killed in her Southwest D.C. apartment Dec. 7. Copeland was buried at Cedar Hill Cemetary in in Suitland-Silver Hill, Md.
