A vigil for slain teen Lucki Pannell was held Monday night in front of her family’s home, where she was killed. With church hymns, candles, and dozens of ballons, family and friends remembered Pannell as a cheerful and outgoing student who dreamed of being a police officer.
Friends marked the birthday of Ebony Franklin, killed nov. 29, 2010. Authorities said her case remains open and under investigation. No arrests have been made.
Antwon Holcomb was convicted of first-degree murder in the slaying of Anthony Perkins in December 2009.
Aaron Benton was arrested in June 2010 killing of Charles Logan. Benton, 18, was presented with a charge of first-degree murder in the case.
Malik Shabazz, of Northeast D.C, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of second degree murder while armed in the December death of Demetrius Ormon Dempsey. Dempsey died of complication from an assault he sustained in 2007, medical authorities said. Shabazz was presented with the second-degree murder charge, but appeared in court using the name Maurice Yancey.
Terrell Kelly, a 27-year-old Southeast D.C. man, was ordered held without bail in the fatal and violent assault on Kyree Seabook in November 2009.
Javoricle Moore was arrested on suspicion on first degree murder in the 2009 shooting death of George Rawlings. Moore is the third suspect arrested in the case.
Eugene Ohm, an attorney for Brian Gaither, suspected of first-degree murder in the death of Latisha Frazier, is seeking to compel authorities to search for Frazier’s body, believed to be in a Richmond landfill. MPD Chief Cathy Lanier said that such a search would be costly, dangerous and time intensive.
