Attorney Eugene Ohm has asked the court to demand that police search for Latisha Frazier’s body, saying that his client, Brian Gaither, can not have a fair trial without evidence that his “alleged actions contributed to Ms. Frazier’s death at all.”
Thirteen men were indicted on charges stemming from several shootouts beginning in July 2009 in Southeast D.C., which resulted in two murders. Melvin White, 27, was killed in the 600 Block of 46th Place SE in April 2010 and Antwan Buckner, 32, was killed in the same block in May 2010.
A Superior Court judge found probable cause for the lesser charge of manslaughter in the death of Vanessa McGee at a preliminary hearing this week. The defendant, Ronald Pickett, was ordered released from jail on his personal recognizance in the case. McGee and Pickett were engaged to be married.
A murder case against 21-year-old Steven Cephas was indicted this week by a D.C. grand jury. Cephas, accused in the traumatic injury death of Dominc Dwayne Kingsbury Jr., is expected to be arraigned on a first degree murder charge, a first degree cruelty to children charge, an obstruction of justice charge, and a charge that the offenses were committed during his release. He has not yet had a preliminary hearing.
Ebony Denise Mack, 26, of Southeast DC was killed in a shooting near the 3300 block of 15th Street SE.
Marcus McLean pleaded innocent in the stabbing death of Delando King, a gay D.C. man, on Aug. 8 at King’s apartment in the 1100 block of 10th Street Northwest.
Dane D. Owens, 28, was sentenced to 66 years in prison for his role in the February 17, 2008 shooting outside Club Envy that killed 23 year-old Dusaan Scully.
Cornell Scrivner, 20, of Washington, D.C., pleaded guilty to two counts of second degree murder while armed in two slayings that took place in Northeast Washington.
