UPDATED: MPD has identified a man who died after being shot Friday night as 45-year-old William Parker of Capitol Heights, Md. The press release is below.
Parker was shot in Southeast D.C. Friday night, the fifth confirmed homicide victim in three days in the District.
The Washington Post reported this morning that the man was found at about 8 p.m. in a car in the 2700 block of Stanton Road SE. A DCFireEMS tweet confirms that authorities were on the scene of a shooting.

Others killed in DC’s violence this week are: Joshua Ruffin, Reginald L. Williams Jr. and Shonell Corriea.
The Friday night shooting scene was approximately one block from where 18-year-old Gary Gordon was killed on March 20.

( Washington, DC) —Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred in the 2700 block of Elvans Road, S.E.
On Friday, April 8, 2011, at approximately 8:10 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the report of a shooting in the area of Stanton Road and Elvans Road, S.E. Upon arrival on the scene, they found an adult male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the 2700 block of Elvans Road, SE. Personnel from DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to the hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
The decedent is identified as 45-year-old William Parker of the 1400 block of Elkwood Lane, Capitol Heights, Maryland.
