Patricia Cave pleaded “not guilty” today to a charge that she fatally stabbed her boyfriend during a fight.
Cave, who turned 50 this month, was indicted by the Grand Jury on a voluntary manslaughter charge in the case. She was arrested on June 2 on suspicion of second-degree murder.
According to charging documents in the case, Cave told detectives that on June 2 another argument with her boyfriend, Lamont Warren, turned physical. Cave picked up the phone to call 911, but Warren slapped the phone out of her hand, she said. Then, when Warren grabbed her around the neck, she grabbed a knife that was near the bed, Cave said, motioning stabbing movements to detectives.
Cave was released from custody following her presentment on the charge in June and she remained on release even after her preliminary hearing.
But today, with evidence that Cave had been using cocaine while on release, Judge Lynn Leibovitz ordered her placed in the custody of a halfway house.
A trial was set for Feb. 21, but both sides are due back before Judge Leibovitz for a status hearing on Dec. 14.
