A trial is due to start Monday in the September 2010 shooting death of 31-year-old Laroy Bryant on Hartford Street in Southeast. Katrell Henry, 36, is suspected of first-degree murder while armed in the case. Judge Lynn Leibovitz will preside.
Phillip Crooms is also expected for a preliminary hearing with Judge Leibovitz. Crooms is suspected of felony murder in the death of Delonte Butler on Sept. 25, 2010. In an earlier hearing Aug. 12, Leibovitz asked prosecutors to clarify Butler’s cause of death.
On Tuesday, Claude Kinney is expected for a preliminary hearing with Judge Gerald Fisher. Kinney is suspected of first-degree murder while armed in the stabbing death of his wife, Alecia Wheeler, on Sept. 13.
On Thursday, Curtis Patterson is expected for a status hearing with Judge Thomas Motley. Patterson was charged earlier this month with first-degree murder in the October 2010 shooting death of Angelo Jones after he allegedly lied to a Grand Jury about whether his codefendant, Rickey Pharr, asked him for a weapon the night Jones was killed.
Dominique Bassil is expected for a felony status conference with Judge Fisher. Bassil is suspected of involuntary manslaughter in the Aug. 13 death of her boyfriend, Vance Harris. Prosecutors had earlier sought a charge of second-degree murder against Bassil, but Fisher lowered the charge after declining to find probable cause for second-degree murder, pointing out that there was sufficient evidence to suggest she might have acted in self-defense.
Rodney McIntyre is expected for sentencing with Judge Leibovitz. In July, McIntyre pleaded guilty to premeditated first-degree murder while armed in the November 2010 stabbing death of his 17-year-old daughter, Ebony Franklin.
On Friday, Shawn Davis is expected for a status hearing with Judge Fisher. Davis is suspected of first-degree murder while armed in the stabbing death of Tawana Barnes Copeland last December. Davis pleaded not guilty to the charge last month. His trial date in the case has been set for July 11, 2012.
Steven Cephas is expected for a full report and sentencing with Judge William Jackson. Cephas pleaded guilty to a charge of voluntary manslaughter in the November 2010 death of his girlfriend’s baby, 20-month-old Dominic Dwayne Kingsbury Jr.
