Two People Killed Overnight in NE and SE DC


MPD has said that two people are dead in homicides that occurred overnight, one on Benning Road, NE and one on Ainger Pl, SE.

A press conference is scheduled for 12:30 today, MPD said.

MPD released the following statement:

MPD is actively investigating 2 Homicides:

The first one occured in the 4500 Block of Benning Road, NE at approximately 4 am. The victim is an adult male. A juvenile female sustained a non-life threatening injury as well. More details to follow.

The second one occured in the 2300 block of Ainger Pl, SE at approximately 830 am. The victim is an adult male. More details to follow.

WJLA, NBC Washington and the Washington Post report that the Benning Road shooting was reported at 4 a.m.

WJLA said:

A man and woman were found shot. Both were taken to Prince George’s Hospital where the man later succumbed to his injuries.

NBC Washington said the woman was a “young girl” and that the shooter was reported to be in a silver Ford sedan.

The Washington Post said the girl was “underage.”

Police are still investigating the circumstances behind the shooting shortly before 4 a.m., but said there may have been an argument. They are looking for a suspect who was last seen wearing a red coat, blue pants and a red shirt.

Fewer details were immediately available regarding the Ainger PLace SE homicide. Firefighters reported that the victim was a male who was transfered to a trauma center with life threatening injuries.

A DC Alert reporting a shooting at Ainger Place SE was issued just after 9 a.m. this morning. It included a lookout for a black male, about 5‘7 to 5‘8, with slight facial hair, and wearing a black leather coat. The alert said to call 911 with event #I20110637386 if this person is seen.
