Homicide Detectives at Scene of Bus Stop Stabbing

Homicide detectives Thursday night were investigating the stabbing of a transgender woman in Northeast DC, according to police and media reports.

A message sent out to the Sixth District listserv Thursday stated:

The Sixth District is investigating a stabbing in the 4800 Block of East Capitol Street NE.

The Washington Post, WUSA and NBC Washington reported that the woman was stabbed at a bus stop and that she was in grave condition.

Reported WUSA:

Passersby flagged down a Metro Transit Police oficer who aided the victim. The officer, as well as arriving MPD officers, thought the victim was a woman.

[Dan Stessel with Metro Transit], quoting Metro Transit investigators, said the victim was placed on the operating table, and was discovered to be a man.

There is no motive for the stabbing at this time. The suspect is a black male in his 40’s with a black and white striped hat and a black coat.
