Gary Montgomery was ordered held this morning pending a preliminary hearing on a charge that he fatally stabbed transgender woman JaParker Deoni Jones in the face at a Northeast DC bus stop last week.
A preliminary hearing date was set for Feb. 23 with Judge Robert Morin.
Montgomery, a 55-year-old Northeast D.C. man was arrested Friday afternoon on suspicion of second-degree murder.
At a press conference Friday afternoon, MPD Chief Cathy Lanier credited the community with helping to apprehend a suspect in the case.
