Reginald Edward Green Arrested in Fatal Friday Morning Stabbing

UPDATE Friday, 10:47 p.m: MPD has identified the victim in this case as 35-year-old Alfonza Flythe of Northeast, DC.

A man fatally stabbed Friday morning on New York Avenue Northeast has not been identified, but MPD says that 25-year-old Reginald Edward Green has been arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder while armed in connection with the case.

Homicide in the 1300 block of New York Avenue, NE

(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced that an arrest has been made in the fatal stabbing which occurred in the 1300 block of New York Ave, NE.

On Friday, February 17, 2012, at approximately 10:43 am, units from the Fifth District responded to the 1300 block of New York Ave, NE, to assist the DC Protective Services Police Department, who were investigating the report of a stabbing. Upon their arrival, they located an adult male victim who was unconscious and suffering from multiple stab wounds. Personnel from DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Special police officers from DC Protective Services Police Department had detained the suspect on the scene.

The decedent’s identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

After further investigation, the suspect who was identified as 25-year-old Reginald Edward Green of Northeast, DC was charged with Murder Two while Armed.
