Week Ahead

Each Friday, Homicide Watch brings you a list of upcoming hearings in the cases we follow. All hearings are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. unless otherwise noted. To add an item to the listing, email homicidewatchdc [at] gmail.com. To see scheduled court hearings beyond next week, see our calendar.

On Tuesday, John William Smith is scheduled for sentencing with Judge Robert Morin. He pleaded guilty in January to one count of second-degree murder while armed in the stabbing death of Elaine Coleman. Smith, 46, could be sentenced to a maximum of 40 years in prison.

On Wednesday, Meeko Carraway is scheduled for sentencing with Judge Thomas Motley. Carraway pleaded guilty in February to second-degree murder while armed in connection with the shooting death of Darrel Hendy. He could be sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Ricardo Mitchell is expected for a status hearing and possible arraignment with Chief Judge Lee Satterfield. Mitchell is suspected in the shooting death of Wyatt Earp Robinson. Court records do not show that the case has been indicted. That hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m.

Bradley Allen, Anthony Thomas and Stephen Page are scheduled for status hearings. Thomas and Page are charged with first-degree murder in the death of Solomon Reese. They’ve pled “not guilty.” Allen is suspected of helping another man charged in the case escape from DC Superior Court.

On Friday, Judge Motley is expecting Phillip Swan, Theodore Spencer and Terrell Wilson for a status hearing. They are charged in the fatal beating of Glenn Scarborough and have pled innocent. The hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m.

Motley is also expecting Anthony Hatton for a status hearing. Hatton is suspected of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Tyrell Fogle. He has not been indicted.

Reginald Green is expected for a preliminary hearing with Judge William Jackson. Green is suspected of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Alfonza Flythe.

Judge Jackson is also expected Terrell Brent for sentencing on a charge of involuntary manslaughter in the shooting death of Lugus Fleming. Fleming and Brent were playing a game of Russian Roulette when Fleming was fatally shot. The maximum penalty for involuntary manslaughter is 30 years in prison, but prison time is not mandatory for the charge. Brent could be sentenced under the Youth Act.

Brandon Andrews is scheduled for a status hearing with Judge Jackson. He’s charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Leonard Alphonso Bigelow. Andrews has pled innocent to the charges against him.

William Faison is expected for arraignment on a charge of first-degree murder in Judge Ronna Beck’s courtroom Friday. Faison is suspected in the shooting death of Jeffrey Yarnell Covington.

Brandon Terry is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on a charge of second-degree murder with Judge Beck on Friday. Terry is suspected in the shooting death of Jhonte Coleman outside a party in Dupont Circle. The hearing is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
