Attorneys are expected to give closing arguments today in the 2010 South Capitol Street shooting, after more than eight weeks of testimony and questioning.
Five men are charged in the case: Orlando Carter, 22; Sanquan Carter, 21; Lamar J. Williams, 23; Robert Bost, 23; and Jeffrey Best, 23.
The fatal shooting of 20-year-old Jordan Howe on March 22, 2010, over a lost bracelet sparked the spree of violence that left four people dead and six injured.
A key witness for the prosecution, Nathaniel Simms testified against his former co-defendants during the trial. Simms pleaded guilty to five counts of second-degree murder while armed in April 2010.
Simms said he and the defendants opened fire on a group of mourners, including the victims Brishell Jones, 16; DaVaughn Boyd, 18; William Jones III, 19; and Tavon Nelson, 17.
