A man fatally shot in Barry Farm early Saturday morning has been identified as 34-year-old Michael Oshea Smith.
A press release from MPD states that Smith was one of two people officers found injured in the 1200 block of Stevens Road Southeast Saturday morning; Smith was declared dead at the scene and the second person was taken to a hospital.

Homicide: 1200 Block of Stevens Road, SE
(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating the fatal shooting which occurred in the 1200 block of Stevens Road, SE.
On Saturday, May 12, 2012, at approximately 5:40 am, members of the Seventh District responded to the 1200 block of Stevens Road, SE for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived on the scene and determined that one of the victims had no signs of life and was pronounced dead by a member of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The second victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The decedent has been identified as 34 year-old Michael Oshea Smith of Southeast, Washington, DC.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
