The Asian American Bar Association of DC has launched a fundraising effort to benefit the family of June Lim, killed outside her H Street deli last month.
Lim’s son, Peter Lim, said the family is honored by the effort and that donations will help his father who is suffering financial hardship.
Lim said the family’s deli started loosing $1,000 to $2,000 a month after a government building across the street moved about two years ago. His parents’ Rockville home is currently in short sale and his father has minimal savings.
The fundraising effort has raised about $1,500.
“We did not anticipate this kind of outpouring,” Peter Lim said. “The donations are really going to make a big difference.”
The effort is the second fundraising campaign in memory of June Lim; at her memorial last month her family asked that people make donations to the National Organization for Victim Assistance.
Peter Lim said that that organization had helped his family in the weeks following his mother’s murder.
“The least we can do is give back,” he said.
