Tarkeyshia Brown pleaded guilty today to one count of second-degree murder in connection with the stabbing death of Jawan Parker. Prosecutors said Brown was upset because she thought Parker owed her $10 for a “dipper” of PCP.
Brown, 34, could be sentenced to 10 to 21 years in prison.
Parker was killed in October 2011 in the 1900 block of I Street Northeast. Brown was arrested five days later on suspicion of first-degree murder while armed. In February she waived her right to a preliminary hearing in order to consider a plea deal.
In court Friday, prosecutors said Parker and a friend had purchased a “dipper” of PCP from Brown from $20. The two friends had agreed to split the cost and that they would share the drugs with Brown. When his friend came up short on the cash, Parker fronted the whole $20, but did not share the drugs.
The night Parker was killed, Brown was angry about the $10 debt, prosecutors said. When Brown found Parker she stabbed him five times, including once in the heart.
Asked by Judge William Jackson whether that information was correct, Brown said “yeah.”
Brown’s guilty plea also includes a plea to felony assault stemming from a 2010 stabbing incident.
