Links Roundup: Hayes Osei Dennis

Fox5, the Washington Post and the Washington Times have reported on the death of Hayes Osei Dennis.

Dennis was fatally stabbed Thursday evening in a robbery at his taxi repair shop in Southwest DC.

The Washington Post reports that Dennis’ brother-in-law, Osei Antwi, said the attacked entered the shop asking for a drink of water.

“Dennis told him to go in and help himself,” Antwi said. “When he came out, he threatened him with a big knife and said, ‘Give me all the money you have.’  ”

The workers told Antwi that Dennis gave the man $20 he had in his pocket, turned to walk away and was stabbed twice, once in the body and again in the neck. D.C. police declined to comment on the account the workers gave Antwi.

Reports the Washington Times,

Police have only been able to describe the attacker as a black man wearing a white shirt who was seen running northbound on Half Street after the stabbing.

Several businesses in the area have surveillance cameras and police are in the process of reviewing recordings to determine if the man was caught on tape as he ran away, Lt. Alder said.

The Associated Press also reports that police are reviewing neighborhood surveillance tape in hopes of identifying a suspect.
