A man found dead in Southeast DC early Friday morning has not yet been identified by police.
According to a press release from MPD Friday afternoon, the man was found by officers responding to a report of a shooting. The man was unconscious and not breathing. He was declared dead at the scene.

Homicide: 2300 Block of Park Place, SE
(Washington, DC)- Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting in the 2300 block of Park Place, SE.
On Friday, July 27, 2012, at approximately 1:17 am units from the Sixth District responded for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located an unidentified male who was unconscious and unresponsive suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene and determined that the victim had no signs consistent with life. The decedent was transported to Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where he was pronounced dead.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
