Wayne Young Identified as Victim of Double Shooting; Other Man Survived

Detectives are looking into a double shooting at the 5000 block of H Street Northeast on Sept. 25 that left one man dead.

Wayne Young, 57, was killed in the shooting. Young was found next to another man who was also shot. Police said that man survived his injuries.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a double shooting which resulted in a homicide in the 5000 block of H Street, NE.

On Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at approximately 11:12 pm, units from the Sixth District responded to the rear of the 5000 block of H Street, NE, for the report of gunshots. Upon arrival, they located two victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene and transported both victims to local hospitals. One of the victims succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The decedent is identified as 57 year-old Wayne Young of Northeast, Washington, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

Correction: The location of the shooting in this case is the 5000 block of H Street Northeast, not the 500 block.
