Man Shot in 2008 Dies of Injuries; Death Ruled Homicide

Joshua Hardy, who was shot in 2008 in the 1200 block of Pleasant Street SE, has died from those injuries, police say.

Hardy, 24, was found unconscious Sept. 20 of this year and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Hardy was shot June 3, 2008. More than a year later, a juvenile male was charged with the assault with intent to kill for the crime and pled guilty. Police say he is still incarcerated for the shooting.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced that the 2008 shooting which occurred in the 1200 block of Pleasant Street, SE, has now been ruled a homicide.

On Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at approximately 11:08 pm, units from the Seventh District responded to the rear of the 1200 block of Pleasant Street, Southeast for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located an adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital.

On Thursday, September 20, 2012, the adult male was found unconscious and was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

On Friday, September 21, 2012, an autopsy was conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner who ruled the death a homicide.

The decedent is identified as 24 year-old Joshua Hardy of Southeast, Washington, DC.

On Tuesday, August 25, 2009, a juvenile male who was charged under Title 16 Statute was arrested and charged as an adult with Assault with Intent to Kill pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant. The juvenile male pled guilty to the offense, and is still incarcerated in connection with the shooting.
