Police Arrest Two Men in Connection with 2007 Murder of Michael Pearson

The Metropolitan Police Department announced Wednesday the arrest of two men on charges of first-degree murder while armed for the 2007 shooting death of 27-year-old Michael Antonio Pearson.

Pearson was shot on Oct. 29, 2007, in the 2100 block of I Street Northeast. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

On Tuesday, police arrested Charles Mason and Jekwan Smith, both 21 years old, in connection with the case.

Arrests Made in the Homicide in the 2100 Block of Eye Street, NE

(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced that two arrests have been made in the fatal shooting which occurred in the 2100 block of Eye Street, NE.

On Monday, October 29, 2007 at approximately 8:21 pm, units from the Fifth District responded to the 2100 block of Eye Street, NE for the report a shooting. Upon their arrival, they located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel transported the victim to a local hospital where he subsequently succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 27 year-old Michael Antonio Pearson of Northeast, Washington, DC.

On Tuesday, October 30, 2007, an autopsy was performed by Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. It was determined that the Cause of Death was multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen, and the Manner of Death was ruled a Homicide.

On Tuesday, November 27, 2012, detectives from the Homicide Branch arrested 21 year-old Charles Mason of Northeast, Washington, DC, and 21-year old Jekwon Smith of Northeast, Washington, DC, charging them both with First Degree Murder while Armed in the fatal shooting of Michael Antonio Pearson.
