A man killed in a shooting in Northeast DC early Saturday morning has been identified as 33-year-old Irving Jones Jr., according to a message from police on the Fifth District listserv.

CCN# 13-040-795On March 30, 2013, at approximately 0209 hours, Fifth District Patrol Officers received a radio run for a man down in front of 601 Edgewood St. N.E. While responding to the scene, the dispatcher advised the officers that the call was now for the sound of gunshots. Upon arriving on the scene, officers discovered a black male subject suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. DC Fire & EMS personnel (Medic 14) were summoned to the scene and transported the subject to Medstar where he succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced dead by Dr. Street at 0236 hours. The decedent’s remains will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where an autopsy will be performed to determine the Cause and Manner of Death.
